Transport and Climate Summit – 9th February 2017 – Dublin Castle

Energy Ireland organised a high level summit, with the support of the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport, to bring together the key players in the transport and energy/environment sectors in Ireland for a day of policy discussion and networking on the 9th February 2016 in Dublin Castle.

Themes examined included:

  • Transport and climate change policy in 2017
  • Strategy for meeting Ireland’s emissions targets
  • Decarbonising Ireland’s transport industry
  • The European perspective on transport decarbonisation – meeting 2030 targets
  • The National Transport Mitigation plan
  • Economic impact of decarbonisation
  • Transport in cities and the urban environment
  • Innovation in the transport industry

Energy Cork Conference – 25th November 2016

Cork Climathon – 28th October 2016

The Cork Climathon was hosted by the Environmental Research Institute, UCC and Energy Cork in partnership with the IERC, Ignite UCC, Blackstone LaunchPad UCC, Taste Cork and Cork City Council on the 28th October 2016.

The Climathon was a global 24 hour hackathon focused on finding practical solutions to specific local climate change challenges. Climathon brought together the challenges of the world’s cities with people who have the passion to solve them. For more information please see: or consult the flyer here.


Build Upon Workshop – 29th September 2016

The Irish Green Building Council, as part of Ireland’s National Renovation Strategy, hosted a Build Upon workshop in the International Energy Research Centre, Tyndall National Institute, Cork on the 29thSeptember 2016. The aim of the workshop was to explore the 10 actions suggested in the “Declaration in 10 points for a better national renovation strategy and an effective implementation plan“,  as well as opportunities and challenges around them.
