Lorena is an Energy Engineer in the Smart Energy Services and Regulatory Innovation Team at IERC. Since October 2019, she has participated in a wide variety of EU-funded H2020 research projects (UP-STAIRS, SPEEDIER, SMARTSPIN, PANTERA). She is experienced in leading different tasks, writing reports, as well as in managing the coordination duties of the UP-STAIRS project. Lorena has a good understanding on community energy and smart grids, in addition to EU energy policy and regulation. She has worked on the deployment of RES and energy efficiency services led to SMEs and citizens, together with business models on the energy industry.
She holds a Masters’ and an Honours Bachelor Degree in Energy Engineering, both by the Technical University of Madrid (UPM). Prior to join the IERC, she was collaborating in this university as a student researcher performing a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of the main technologies integrating the Spanish electricity mix. Lorena also worked in a PV energy company in Madrid on self-consumption and isolated grids projects in Africa, South America and Middle East, besides on the monitoring of large PV plants in Spain.
