Dr. Fawad Ahmed

Postdoctoral Researcher

Dr. Fawad Ahmed is a Postdoctoral Researcher at IERC. He earned his Ph.D. in Energy Science and Engineering from the University of Naples ‘Parthenope’, Italy, where he specialized in geothermal and sustainable energy systems for the decarbonization of heating and cooling in buildings. He holds an MS in Thermal Energy Engineering and a BE in Mechanical Engineering from the National University of Sciences & Technology (NUST), Pakistan.

Dr. Ahmed has actively contributed to European research collaborations, including EU COST Actions focused on geothermal district heating systems and energy geo-structures. His expertise spans advanced numerical modelling (COMSOL, ANSYS), experimental investigation, energy performance simulations, and data-driven analysis. He has authored several peer-reviewed publications in leading international journals and conference proceedings.

In addition to his research achievements, he brings hands-on experience in experimental facility development, laboratory management, and technical training.

Passionate about accelerating the global energy transition, Dr. Ahmed’s research centres on high-performance building envelopes, ground heat exchangers, geothermal heating and cooling systems, and energy geo-structures for decarbonization and thermal energy storage applications. Through his work, he aims to advance scalable, sustainable solutions for low-carbon built environments.
