Sue Stevenson has had a wide-ranging career with leadership roles in both the private sector and the not-for-profit world.
She has vast experience in the world of technology in jobs ranging from Systems Engineer to Senior Marketing Executive at IBM.
In the nonprofit world she spent a number of years as Director of Business in the Environment, a key part of HRH Prince Charles’ charitable organization engaged in promoting environmentally responsible, profitable businesses alongside multinational business and corporate partners. Sue has been Director of Strategic Partnerships and International Development at Barefoot College International (BCI) since 2013.
Sue’s mandate at BCI, is to develop global strategic partnerships in support of the mission of Barefoot College International, particularly in the areas of women-led innovations in technology, education and healthcare aimed towards sustainable social and economic uplift and long-term renewable energy use.
Sue is a member of the BCI Leadership Team and has been a key part of the dissemination of practical, useable and long lasting solar installations in over 2000 villages in over 90 countries, which has driven life changing quality of life improvement for the people in these communities. In addition, given rapid technology development, cost decreases, and the effectiveness of the BCI model, she looks forward to accelerated progress in the future.
Sue has also held board positions in secondary and tertiary education, including at Stanford University in the USA and Aiglon College in Switzerland. In addition she has served on the boards of arts-related Foundations, supporting youth talent development in dance, music and art.
