Trained as an architect, Kumar brings extensive experience in building performance analysis to his pursuit of a PhD, supported by the ERBE CDT scholarship. His research focuses on enhancing the reliability of energy analysis in building stocks, employing machine learning and data mining techniques to fortify building stock energy analysis. As a founding member of the Irish Building Stock Observatory (IBSO), he contributes to a national platform for experts in building stock modelling. With specialised expertise in this area, Kumar is dedicated to aiding the decarbonisation efforts within the built environment.
Before his role with the Government of India, where he contributed to the architectural design of public buildings and implementation of energy policies for public buildings, Kumar worked at Terra Viridis, an environmental consulting firm. There, he served as a building analyst, acting as a secondary designer to improve building designs for better performance.
Kumar holds an M.Arch. from CEPT University and a B.Arch. from SMVD University.”
